Inter-University Cultural Performance Face-Off

After a power packed battle of academic presentations on 21st of April, which is the 3rd Inter-University Students’ Conference: 200 years of Jane Austen, it was time for the gladiators to fight it out in the cultural arena of theatre and performance on the next day, 22nd April. The featured teams were Dhaka University, BRAC University, East West University, North South University and last but not the least, the host university, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, ULAB.

The eminent media personality and distinguished actress Suborna Mustafa and the Professor  Sudip Chakroborthy of Theatre and Performance Studies of Dhaka University were the judges of the cultural contest. The Country Direction of the British Council, Ms. Barbara Wickham was present as the Chief Guest of the event.

While each of the universities delivered their jaw dropping performances, Dhaka University won the competition and University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) was named the runner-up. Interestingly, the judges also picked two best actors from all the team, one from BRAC University and another from Dhaka University respectively. Suborna Mustafa specifically complimented their talent and individual performances.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Professor Imran Rahman, and the Head of the Department, Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD.
