(Poem) Rain

By Farheen Hossain

The rain arrives in various forms,

It may come gently or with violent storms.

It can be a blessing, so cool and calm,

But also a disaster causing harm.

Rain is known to help flowers grow,

Yet it can also uproot trees from the ground.

While it provides food from seeds we sow,

If it frowns the devastation is profound.

Too much rain can cause a flood,

Drowning fields, homes, and roads in mud.

Or too little rain can parch the land,

Leaving crops and trees without a helping hand.

If rain resembles a woman’s soul,

Will they fault women for all of life’s tolls?

And when I see each woman’s essence whole,

Will they accuse me of playing roles?

If I dare to say that rain is a goddess,

Will they silence me, thinking that it’s too bold?

For I believe that rain embodies a greatness,

A divine force that should be extolled.
