My home, the abode

By Zaima E Jannat

Noisy highways and traffic signs,

obnoxious air and people’s whines;

I see them every day, day to day,

I bring food

so there’s no other way.

As I step into my home, the abode,

away from the hustle

and the turbulent roads;

I see my darlings,

Houseplants, I call;

some are standing tall

and some are crawling the wall.

I smile at them

and they dance at me,

Then I watch them

with my eyes filled with glee.

I dance under the sky

which is up so high;

My darlings dance too,

when the breeze brush through.

All my fears

melt like snow,

Whenever I see

my leafy loves,

grow like a pro!

Away from the hustle

and turbulent roads,

My darlings make me feel

revived and alive,

When I step

into my home, the abode.
