Here Comes the Beast

Here Comes the Beast

– Piu Chowdhury

And a beast was infused in me

It crept and crawled until it reached my veins

My blood turned blue

Not black but blue

And I turned pale

Not yellow but white

I saw it passing by

Each and every single day

Every single night

Until it started to stay in for good

I tried for years to get it out

I fought …I struggled… I suffered through pain…

But one day I realized

It all went in vain

As it was meant to be

I was meant to turn into a beast

So I started to teach myself something new

I learnt to pretend… to survive… to tolerate and to wrestle…

I learnt to be a human at day

But a demon at night

So I wore a skin above my skin

Full of scars and marks from the fight

Until I opened all cloaks and poured all the tears out

To turn into a beast who spat dust of hope

Who ate tarpon of envy,

Of hate and chocked on images from the past

And this is how a little girl had to become a beast

To survive the beast within

And she lived beastly ever after….
