For many, many days;
I had watered it with mineral water, and kept my yellow table lamp on
so that light landed straight on its leaves.
I sat by its side.
I gave it company.
I fed it with the best quality organic nutrient. I made sure it was never painfully hungry.
I did everything I could think of. I did everything I could do.
And I waited.
I waited for days, for weeks.
I also waited for months and years. Depression should never be the winner. Nothing is impossible.
Its petals unfurl.
But, after all, I have no power that made it bloom.
