Rosy: You know dear that after your father has passed out, I never sent you alone anywhere and never have I let you be alone even for a moment. But now it’s time to fulfill your father’s dream and complete your graduation by becoming a lawyer.

Lara: Yeah mom! I know all the sacrifices you have had made for me. I can never repay those back to you. I’ll surely make you proud one day by becoming one of the finest lawyers of this century.

Rosy: Yes, my dear child that is the only thing I asked from you ever. Remember, it’s easy to be a mother, but it’s never easy to become a mother and raise a child all alone by herself.

Lara: I know mother. I’ll never disappoint you.

Rosy: I think it’s the time for departure and you should leave. Take care my child. This is from where your journey starts. Call me immediately when you reach there. Love you to the moon and back.

Lara: I love you too mom.

Act 1, Scene 2- Lara and her mother talking over phone about studies. Lara informs her about a boy whom she likes from college recently, but receives ignorance from her about this.

Lara: Hey mom, you surely would want to know what has happened today in the college. I got an invitation from the head professor in one of his ceremonies because I topped the class quiz today.

Rosy: O my dear child! What an excellent news to hear in such a lovely afternoon. So. What is my princess going to wear? Decided yet?

Lara: Mmmm, not yet mom, but tonight I’m going for shopping with someone.

Rosy: Made friends already, aha!! I see someone is enjoying in England a lot.

Lara: There is something else I’m enjoying more which I want to share with you if you have time to listen.

Rosy: Time flies dear, and we are only the pilot. Come one, tell me what is it about?

Lara: Mom, I think I like someone from my class. He’s name is John and he is from Honduras. Well, I assume he likes me too as he has already called me on a date tonight.

Rosy: Listen Lara, you know I’m not against love. But for now, this is not what I was expecting from you to do. You have only been landed to England just a few weeks ago and is this when you decide to hamper your studies? You know that how badly I have arranged such an amount of money to pay for your college to fulfill your dad’s dream. You just can’t be in love now!

Lara: I knew you would react like this and this is why I was not thinking of telling you about him. Who told you that love is going to hamper my studies? Together we will manage everything and I really don’t think you should behave like this when it comes to your daughter’s happiness.

Rosy: You don’t understand Lara. You are only 20 and you have a great deal of your life ahead. You can’t mess it up. Just can’t.

Lara: Are you threatening me? Or trying to scold me?

Rosy: Just trying to make you realize dear. And if you disobey me, then it’s better for us not to talk. It might sound wrong but I’m making you choose between me and John.

Lara: You can be really annoying sometimes. And guess what? I think I’m getting late and John will be waiting for me in the coffee store. It’s time for a bye. Take care mom.

Rosy: But Lara listen to me………

The phone cuts.

Act 1, Scene 3-Lara meets John at cafeteria on Valentine’s Day and they get engaged.

Both Lara and John sitting face to face in the cafeteria of their college.

John: You look worried Lara, Is everything alright?

Lara: Nothing. It’s just a bad headache.

John: Listen Lara, there is something I want to tell you. I’ve never loved anyone else but you. And I want nothing else but to be with you forever. Today is Valentine’s Day and I want to propose you offering you to be mine forever. I can’t imagine myself without you.

Lara: John, are you sure? (Surprised seeing the ring in John’s hand)

John: Never have I ever been sure about something these much than this.

Lara: I love you.

John: Love you too.

They got engaged.

Act 2, Scene 1- Lara finds out she is pregnant.

Looking at the positive result on the pregnancy kit.

Lara: Oh My God! I don’t believe this. John would be so happy. We can probably live together now in the same house. Mom would be so happy too. Only if I could tell her this news before John. I can’t believe there is little baby inside me now. This is the best day for me in my whole life and no matter what happens, I’m going to talk to mom about this after I let John know that he’s going to be a father. How he’s going to react? Is he going to cry? O no I’m being so dramatic. Let me visit him immediately.

Act 2, Scene 2- Lara visits John’s house where she caught John cheating on her.

John: O my dear lady, do you want to be here all night or want to visit the pub in the next street?
Bella: Why not? But only after we have a good time in this chilly weather in your room.

Lara shockingly opens the door of John’s bedroom and finds him with Bella, one of their classmates from college under blanket.

John: Why didn’t you gave me back the keys of my house last night? I mean, what are you doing here right now? Weren’t you supposed to be at your college for your assignments?
Lara: Surely! I was supposed to do a lot of things beside this as well, like listening to my mom and never getting engaged to you, or should have think twice before having a physical relation with you. Wasn’t I supposed to be a bit wiser, John?

John: Look, it’s just about the time you know. Bella was really upset with her studies and came to talk to me about Tort law and I don’t know what to say to you but I’m sorry.

Lara: O well, why not tell this sorry to someone who is not even responsible for any of these things? You know what? Forget it. Wait a minute, what is s/he going to call Bella? Second mom? Or who knows there might be third and fourth as well?

John: Behave! I don’t understand what you are talking about.

Lara: Neither did I when mom warned me about you.

John: What? What is it Lara?

Lara: Goodbye, Mr. John Williams, and listen up, my kid will never be sharing your surname. Mark on my words.

Lara leaves shutting the door of John’s bedroom.

Act 2, Scene 3- Lara calls her mom from airport to inform she’s coming back to Berlin forever. She gets informed that her mother is very sick.

Lara: Mom? Look I’m so sorry mom, please forgive me. I was so stupid to ignore you for someone whom I even don’t knew properly. Please forgive me. I’m coming back.

Mary: Lara? Where have you been all these days?

Lara: Aunt Mary? Where is mom? I need to talk to her immediately.

Mary: Poor child, your mom has been uttering your name since the day she has been admitted to hospital.

Lara: Hospital? Why? What happened to her? Is she alright now?

Mary: Come soon, I fear you’ll even not be able to see her for the last time even. She has been diagnosed with brain tumor and had a severe attack the day you stopped talking to her. You knew that only you were her support. She was nothing without you. Please come fast Lara, I pray you will not have to repent later on.

Lara: Aunt, I’m just a flight away.

Act 3, Scene 1- Lara gets back to her house in Berlin.

Mary: Come child, you are indeed late. The funeral has been done two hours before and her last wish was to see you for the last time. Sadly, we couldn’t wait but to do it without you.

Lara: I deserve worse than this. The only person who saved my life and made it beautiful was her and what I did to her was so rigid.

Mary: You can only pray for her soul to rest in peace now. Before she died, she left this will for you and she wrote all her belongings and this house by your name. Make a good use of it dear.

Lara: Only if she left me some prayers.

Mary leaves.

Act 3, Scene 2- – 4 years later, standing in the airport with her daughter.

Lara: Rosy? Rosy? Have you checked your bags? Are the story books inside? You are not going to disturb me in the flight asking to listen the same ghost stories again and again remember?

Little Rosy: Yes mom, I did.

Lara: That’s like my good girl.

Little Rosy: Mom, why are we going to England? Can’t we live in Berlin forever?

Lara: No dear, I don’t want you to be like me.

Little Rosy: I don’t understand.

Lara: Nothing dear. It’s just I don’t want you to grow up and leave me someday to complete your graduation from another country. I can’t dare to lose you. I don’t want my daughter to be like me. I want you to be like my mother, brave, bold, determined and noble, which is why you have been named after her.

Little Rosy: Okay, too hard for me to get it momma, can we have a cup of fresh orange juice from the store?

Lara: Sure honey.

Little Rosy jumps off her seat and walks to the store moving her little hello kitty purse, while Lara remembers her mother’s saying that it’s easy to be a mother, but it’s never easy to become a mother and raise a child all alone by herself.

They set off to England.
