Amitav Ghosh’s The Shadow Lines delineates many of the political issues related to the partition of the subcontinent. The paper examines how the narrativitized fiction of Ghosh creates the human story behind the political history that is responsible for the creation of nation-states. It explores various characters across the territorial divides to give a human face to political facts.
