(Poem) Heart of a Shrewd

By Raisa Anan

Deep in the despairing depths
Of truths untold and voices unheard
Lies my naked truth
That I so desperately wish to set free like a bird.

As our time streams by
Like quicksand
Words  I longed to say
Remains tightly canned.

I wish to say I cherish you
And the hope I lost in tomorrow
I found within you
Sometimes less, sometimes more
As you kept me inshore.

In the skies of pink and blue
I find you
As I now bathe in yellow
The me who was once Othello.

I pray that these words not get lost in translation
To you who is my station
A token of gratitude
From the black heart of a shrewd.
